A 23-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm as a result of a shooting in Hobart's northern suburbs last night.
The man allegedly shot a 27-year-old woman in the stomach inside her home in Cammeray Road in Claremont about 9:00pm.
The woman's two young children were present in the house.
She was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital but was released this afternoon.
It is understood she and the man were in a relationship, but had only been dating for a few weeks.
Police recovered the cut-down .22 rifle allegedly used in the shooting from bushland at the back of the home.
Inspector Craig Joel said the woman's children, a primary school age boy and a girl, were in the house, but it is not known if they witnessed the incident.>

"It is concerning that there are children involved and that there are children nearby and we'll certainly be talking to our other government partners about that to ensure that their wellbeing is foremost in our minds," he said.
Police said there were no family violence orders in place and the man was with the woman when police arrived at the scene.
"Any sort of shooting or any sort of wound from a firearm has the potential to be deadly so we're taking it very seriously and we will treat this as if it is a more serious injury," he said.
Neighbour Adele Marshall said she did not hear anything from the house before the shooting and the commotion came as a shock.
"I saw flashing lights and then I noticed another light near the garage and I came out and there were police everywhere," she said.
Special investigators remain at the house.
